Tristan J. Rogers

I am Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Santa Clara University. I was recently Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at The University of Colorado Boulder. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in 2017.

I work in political philosophy, ethics, and ancient philosophy. My book, The Authority of Virtue: Institutions and Character in the Good Society, was published by Routledge in November 2020. You can read a prĂ©cis of the book here. I am currently working on my next book, under contract with Routledge, tentatively titled Conservatism Past and Present: A Philosophical Introduction.

I grew up in Canada and studied at Concordia University and Queen’s University before coming to the United States for graduate school. I live in the South Bay Area with my wife, two daughters, and dog, Argos. In my spare time, I enjoy writing and playing music, some of which you can find here.
