I am a philosopher, author, and teacher. I teach Logic and Latin at Donum Dei Classical Academy in San Francisco, CA. I have also taught philosophy, most recently at Santa Clara University, the University of Colorado Boulder, and the University of California, Davis.
My academic interests are in political philosophy, ethics, and ancient philosophy. My first book The Authority of Virtue: Institutions and Character in the Good Society was published in 2020. You can read a précis of the book here. My next book Conservatism, Past and Present: A Philosophical Introduction is now available. You can read the first chapter here.
I grew up in Canada and studied at Concordia University and Queen’s University before coming to the United States for graduate school at the University of Arizona. I became a naturalized American citizen in 2023. I live in Los Gatos, CA with my wife and two daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy writing and playing music, some of which you can find here.
